Three gorgeous kids you have to see

My eighteen month old is crazy. Seriously. She likes to out yell you, and she wins every time. She runs or jumps into the water, and no, she can’t swim yet. But she’s eighteen months old. She’s learning, she’s exploring, testing the boundaries. So when parents tell me they’re worried how their children will act during a photo-shoot, I understand this thought process. Kids are spontaneous, adventurous and sometimes downright crazy. But in my eyes, that’s what makes for good pictures. You want the emotion and personality of your kids to be on full display. So I put parents at ease by simply telling them that I want the kids to be themselves, because that’s what you will want to see. In the images below, you’ll see the individual personalities of these three gorgeous kids. The sassy older brother, the elegant middle child and the devilish adventurous youngest child. And when mom saw the images for the first time, my favorite comment was “I love that expression”. Because I knew I had delivered images she would treasure.

Melinda & Jon – A Dover Downs wedding

When I arrived at the groomsmen’s gathering point and saw how relaxed the groom was, I knew this was going to be a great day.  They had a fantastic view of the racetrack and cars sped around the track, which made for some cool background noise.  As the men pressed their hanky’s and made sure they were prim and proper (for the afternoon at least), the proud dads had a chat amongst themselves.  It was clear to me they had a special bond, which became quite evident as the day unfolded.  This just wasn’t a couple coming together in wedded bliss; it was two entire families coming together.  Love oozed out of the room, into the hallways and down to the ceremony.

When I got to the bride, the scene was a little different.  I wouldn’t say nervous; I would said anxiously excited.  She wanted the day to get going.  She was done being single.  She wanted to see her fiancee, become a wife and cherish the special day with the man she would spend the rest of her life loving.  As father and daughter made their way to the ceremony, you could just feel the pride emitting from him.  He was beaming from ear to ear.  This wasn’t about letting a daughter out of his life; it was about seeing her in her moment, supremely happy.  There was no sadness, only joy.

From the obvious department, it’s easy, well easier to participate in an event when the families are invested in the couple and each other.  That is certainly the case with the families of Melinda and Jon.  It’s even easier when the couple is as well.  You can see the true love they share just by watching them look at each other.  True love.  It’s not a fantasy, but it is magical when you see it first-hand.  Everyone strives to find their true love, but actually seeing it in person, wow, that’s quite special.  I was so privileged to be a part of this day and I wish you two a lifetime of happiness.

Paoli Family Bonfire Beach Bash

Recently I was asked to do a beach session for a family I have come to know very well.  And when I say family, I mean extended family.  As in five families.  25+ people.  No problem I said, easy peasy japanesey.  Well, mostly.  Dealing with a large group like that can be complicated.  But this family was relaxed which made my job that much easier.  Instead of posting photos, I opted for a video this time.  Feel free to leave a comment and tell me which you prefer.  Cheers!

August. August??!

Wow, has the summer flown by.  I’ve been rather occupied with lots of beach time with the family so I apologize for the lack of posts.  Things are going to start getting busy again here and right quick.  Lots of projects, weddings, parties and other shoots, so keep an eye out for more updates as we get into the fall.  The schedule is filling up so if you’re interested in booking a session I encourage you to do it now.  Here are a few recent pics of the girls, who are growing up way too fast…
